Mapastone was founded in 2003 by expert professionals in the natural stone market and the most advanced technologies. Today, Mapastone is widely known for the high technological content of its flagship product, Mapascan, successfully adopted by companies all over the world. Developed over many years of research and investment, Mapascan allows companies in the stone industry to create an accurate electronic inventory of their stone slabs, using high-definition and high-resolution photographs, in a fully automatic way, directly from the production line.

The hardware and software components of Mapascan have been specifically designed to meet the unique needs of the stone industry, immediately positioning themselves as market leaders.
In 2022, Mapastone launched Mapaproject, a new software specifically developed for the stone market, allowing users to easily and quickly create 2D renderings: by using real slab images captured with Mapascan, stone fabricators can produce projects and previews faster and more efficiently than ever before.

ALESSANDRO FRANCI

Alessandro Franci is a professional with long experience in the stone industry, currently working in Mapastone as President, but also owner of the well-known marble trading company Petris, also based in Massa-Carrara – Italy.
His was the idea of the first scanner for marble slabs: with a futuristic vision of what could have been, he imagined a new device starting from something widely used in offices, but with dimensions and features suitable for use in a stone industry.
His professional path has solid roots: he began his career at a very young age, thanks also to the help of his father, also in this sector. After a few years in the USA he then returned to Italy, with an initial baggage of experiences that immediately allowed him to have the open-mindedness and innovative ideas that led him to double success in the natural stone market with Mapastone and Petris.

PIETRO BONDIELLI

Pietro Bondielli is one of the key-man at Mapastone who, thanks to his studies and passion for computer science, combined with many years of experience in the family’s marble company, has been able to successfully connect the two worlds.
Pietro brought the point of view of stone companies to Mapastone, immediately grasping the needs of the sector and managing to translate them into effective solutions: design and implementation of new ideas were possible thanks to the continuous hard work of the team of engineers present in the company. He is currently the person with a deep knowledge of every aspect of Mapascan and Mapaproject.
